How to locate and repair a DALI Bus Fault
If you enter scan for devices and get a DALI Bus Fault, then you have either:
- A short on the DALI bus in one of the devices
- A failed DALI power supply
The DALI bus is powered by the Hub. There are two power levels, 80 mA and 240 mA. 80 mA is fine for most projects; if there are more than 40 DALI devices, then 240 mA is needed.
Check Bus Power
Visit the Advanced section and click on DALI Bus Power status. The voltage should be over 14 volts, with the current less than 260 mA.
Check Logs
The DALI bus status is reported in real time as follows (x can be 1 to 4):
- D0x: no power or short
- D1x: bus shorted to 12v or similar
- D2x: bus OK
- D3x: bus not tested yet
- D4x: bus shorted to 24 volts or higher
Locating the Fault
- Unplug all PSE devices except one
- Activate one PSE at a time to see if the bus returns to D2x status
- Unplug all loads and insert them one at a time until the load causing the problem is identified
