Closet Door Contact Switch
We like our closet lights to go on with the door open and off with the door closed. Same with other utility rooms and the pantry. With the low voltage solution from ATX LED – this becomes simple.
|
Magnetic Reed Switch This low-cost switch ($5–$10) is placed in the door frame. It is normally closed and opens when the door opens. It can handle low voltage loads directly or be used to trigger a relay for higher loads. |

|
Wiring Example Run low voltage wiring to the reed switch location. We recommend using 22 AWG or 18 AWG low voltage wire. The switch can be mounted in the trim with a small hole drilled, allowing it to remain hidden and clean. |

Finished Installation The result is a closet, pantry, or utility room light that automatically turns on when the door opens and off when the door closes, using safe low voltage wiring and reliable, simple components. |
