Strip Solution Set Options

The strip solution set has three distinctly different options: CT controlled with extreme efficiency (a) and midrange (b) requiring soldering and planning Modular, plug and play, and fixed CCT (c).

A) Series 660mA

This option is designed for the highest possible efficiency and the ideal, perfect dimming and color tuning. However, it requires clear planning, and the maximum length of the strip is limited to about 14 feet. The wiring method is the same as our ceiling downlights, using series wiring with two wires between each endpoint (two wires on one end of the strip and two wires on the other end of each strip). An AL-WS-DR2 is used with the 660mA models, and an AL-DR1500 is used with the 1320mA models.

B) Parallel CVCL (Controlled Voltage - Current Limited)

Our strips designed for parallel wiring are driven by a current-limited source. For short runs below 28 watts, the AL-WS-DR2 is best, perfectly operating at the highest lm/watt point in the VI curve—automatically hunting the ML/WR (Max lm/w Ratio). The AL-DR1500 handles loads above 75 watts at ML/WR, delivering constant lumens evenly across any connected length without overload.

For loads between 38 and 75 watts, the AL-DR1500 or similar needs manual max adjustment if the highest efficiency is required. Otherwise, it operates with a ~25% reduction in efficiency while maintaining functionality.

C) Modular with Built-In Connectors

This option is easy to deploy, plug-and-play, and comes with fixed CCT, making it the simplest solution for many installations.

4 or 8 w/ft Strip Lights using P023S11 CCR / DCC strips (P023S4)

The High Output high-density strip light from ATX LED is available as DIY with 18-inch segments or pre-assembled in these sizes.

For 4 watts per ft, set the current to 720 mA. For 8 watts per ft, use 1440 mA. Available as tunable white or fixed CCT.

Choose open frame (for cove lighting) or closed with diffuser (for under cabinet). Photo is open frame for best cooling (use a vacuum to remove dust).

Dimming is strongly recommended.

8 w/ft Strip Lights using P023R11 CV strips - optional driver

The High Output strip light from ATX LED is available in these sizes. The current is 160 mA per ft, and they are fixed color. Dimming is strongly recommended due to the brightness of these strips, but you can power these from a simple On/Off switch with no arcing to damage the switch, up to 12 ft per NEC 2017 code limits. If using an AL-WS-DR1 or DR2 driver, above 4 ft, the watts for the entire strip are limited to 36 watts; therefore, a 16 ft strip will take 36 watts max, which is quite bright.

Available in 7", 9", and 12" lengths (3.4 w, 2.7 w, and 2 w/ft).

Use to build almost any length from 7 inches to 180 inches (15 ft).

Combine different lengths into the size needed and operate at 2700, 3850, 5000, or tunable white.

Minimum total per driver is 14 inches (2 strips) and can be split into different physical locations. For example, 3 strips with 12 inches each could be in 3 different sections.
