How to Program Multiple AL-WS-DR2 to Operate Dozens of LEDs in Unison
This mode allows multiple AL-WS-DR2 to operate as one large switch— all attached LEDs will have the same brightness and color and respond in sync with any other.
Steps to set up Tandem 3-Way:
- Log into the ATX LED Hub, navigate to Groups, scroll to the 3-Way section, and click on Create Tandem 3-Way.
- Select 2 or more switches to merge into a tandem combo.
- Note: Each switch will take an address in the range of 0-15. If these are full, contact tech support for manual setup.
- With the switches selected, click on Save.
- The switches' addresses will move to 0-15 and join a group with the same value (e.g., address 13 will join group 13).
- If there are 2 switches, both will be assigned an address under 16 and the same group.
- All members of the combo will join the group assignment of the others.
- Test: Move each switch in the combo and check logs to confirm they transmit Group ARC Level commands (e.g., G13, G14), not Address ARC Level.
Assigning Hue Operations to a Tandem Combo:
- Hide all switches in the combo in the DALI Devices page.
- Hide all associated groups in the Groups page.
- In exactly one of the associated groups, uncheck Hide and give the combo a short, Alexa-understandable name.
- Delete any old Hue entries and accept the new names.
- Go to the Hue page to sync your settings with the Hue module.
Advantages of AL-WS-DALI-8B:
- No need for the AL-WS-DALI-8B address to be between 0-15 (allows more groups per bus).
- Up to 8 buttons in a single gang box (3 and 4 button models are especially useful).
- Lower cost per group control.
This Explanation is for Technical Background Only
Examples:
- a) 3 DR2 controlling 24 LEDs all operate together as one from 3 switches (4-Way)
- b) 2 DR2 controlling 8 lights all operate together as one from 2 switches (3-Way)
- c) 1 DR2 controlling 4 lights with remote switch (3-Way) via an unrelated AL-WS-DR2
- d) 1 DR2 controlling 4 lights with remote switch (3-Way) via a hard-wired related AL-WS-M
Manual Method to Create a Tandem Setup / Virtual Three-Way
See ZWD Groups for automatic operation.
- Identify each DR2 by name using DALI Devices. Flip the switch and observe the green symbol in the dashboard moving, then open the dropdown and give the device a name. Note the short address.
- Change the address of DR2 #1 to an unused address between 0 and 15:
- In Advanced, scroll to Change Address.
- Enter the existing address (e.g., 18) and the new address (e.g., 4), then hit Change.
- Repeat for DR2 #2 and #3 (e.g., 5, 6).
- In DALI Devices, go to the device with address 4 (group 4 active). Add group 5 (and 6 if needed).
- For device with address 5, add group 4 (and 6 if needed).
- For device with address 6 (if applicable), add groups 4 and 5.
- Now you can dim and control from multiple locations in sync.
- You can also use the “Virtual 3-Way” feature in ZWD at the bottom of the Groups tab to perform these steps automatically.
Additional Methods:
- To use the N-Way input of an unrelated DR2, add an AL-WS-M to any DR2 and use the “2nd Short Address” feature to set the short address the same as the DR2 with the lights attached.
- To use the hardwired N-Way method, run an 18/2 pair or CAT-5e line from the DR2 with the lights to the location where you want to place the AL-WS-M as a 3-way switch.

Green boxes are 660mA for Tunable white.
2nd DALI Address from a N-Way Switch to an Unrelated DR2
Either the Main switch or the N-Way input can be given a 2nd DALI address.
To do this, set memory 0:15 to Split mode, set memory 5:30 to swap Main and N-Way if needed. Set the 2nd DALI address at address 5:29.
With this done, each press toggles On/Off, hold to dim.
Value sent to AL-WS-DR2 5:29 | Address Range | Command Type | Function |

0-63 | 0-63 | Address | send / receive On/Off/Dim |
64-79 | 0-15 | Group | send / receive On/Off/Dim |
